Blair High School has a very active running program under the direction of Varsity Coach Veronica Yepez, Asst. Coach Jackie Gonzalez, and Assist Coach Rene Rodriguez.

Coach Yepez began this “Life Changing” program whereby “… students are not just running, they are gaining confidence, building friendships, and overcoming physical, emotional and mental barriers.”

Coach Yepez expounds, “Running” has freed my students from doubt, encouraged their reflective skills and made them stronger in every capacity.” When students are assigned their running partner, they are asked to report back to the team five things they learned about their running partner that day.

This past week, the Cross Country team ran at the 5k Kick-off race at Dockweiler Beach, CA. Runners consisted of 7th graders-12th graders, teacher leaders, and a couple parents. Blair HS participates with Students Run Los Angeles (SRLA) (26 students will compete for the designated 15 slots) LA Marathon has granted the school. This program supports and sponsors student runners in preparation for the LA Marathon.
