Yusef Muhammad is free sailing on his punt return for a touchdown that helped him be named SCFA Metro League Player of the Week.
Pasadena City College football team sophomore cornerback/returner Yusef Muhammad was named SCFA Metro League Special Teams Player of the Week for week No. 5 as his accomplishments helped the Lancers win their league opener over Compton, 30-20, on Sept. 30.
Muhammad ran back a punt return 72 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter and later broke up three passes, twice preventing Compton TD throws in the end zone. He added three tackles. Muhammad was an All-SCFA First Team selection last year as a return specialist and wide receiver. He switched from offense to defense this season for the Lancers.

This coming Saturday, Oct. 7, PCC (2-3 overall, 1-0 in league) looks for its third straight win when it hosts West Los Angeles College. Kickoff is 6 p.m. at Robinson Stadium. The Wildcats (1-4) won their first league game and first of the season, 21-13, over Glendale last week. WLAC quarterback Markell White passed for 203 yards (24-of-29, one TD) and led the team in rushing on 63 yards in 10 carries.
For PCC, sophomore wide receiver Stevie Williams is third in the state in receptions (29 for 481 yards, 16.6 average) and his six touchdown catches is tied for first in the SCFA. Kicker-punter Enrique Lozano, who tied a PCC school record for longest field of 49 yards v. Compton, is seventh in kick scoring (35 points) and 10th in punting average (38.2) in the state. Linebacker Jasper Chavez leads the defense in tackles with 33.
