It has taken the absolute best to knock off the 2017 Poly girls volleyball program.

First, it took undefeated Westridge to dash the Panthers hopes of winning the Prep League title.

Their only two losses (10-2) in league were to the Tigers.

After two CIF-SS Division 4 playoff sweeps of Camarillo and Mayfair, the Panthers had to travel to the top-seeded Centaurs, who entered the match with a 26-1 record.

Culver City earned a 25-15, 19-25, 25-17 and 25-9 victory over the visiting Panthers.

The second-set win for Poly was the first time the Centaurs had dropped a game since October 3.

Sophomore Ella Mao led Poly with 12 kills and 3 aces.

Alexis Pappachan (8), Halston Harper (7) and Kate Salembier (6) combined for 21 kills.

Zoey Mao, also a sophomore, had a team-high 43 assists, and also added 4 kills.

Records:
Poly (23-5); Culver City (27-1)
