It seemed winning the Prep League title and doing so without a loss might earn Westridge more of a home-court advantage.

Eryn Boken vs Laguna Beach

But other than their first match with Cajon, the Tigers have had to become road warriors.

It also gave them a chance to show their mettle, and challenge their own character as a unit.

The challenge was accepted and the Tigers passed with flying colors.

Westridge earned a 26-24, 17-25, 27-25 and 25-21 victory at Laguna Beach.

The victory sets up a CIF-SS Division 3 semifinal match with Sierra Canyon on Tuesday evening.

Westridge will host, but they might play at Poly, because the Tigers’ gym is likely too small to hold fans of both schools for the semifinal match up.

Makana Meyer led the way for the second match in a row with 23 kills, 9 digs and an ace.

Allison Martinez v Laguna Beach

Allison Martinez added 16 kills, 13 digs and 3 aces.

Meyer and Martinez combined for 39 of Westridge’s 44 team kills Saturday.

Krystal Raymundo had a team-high 40 assists and also added 19 digs and 2 aces.

Julia Cruz chipped in 28 digs and 4 assists.

On the other half of the D3 bracket, La Salle will travel to Newport Beach to take on Sage Hill.

If La Salle and Westridge both win on Tuesday, it would set up an all-Pasadena final.

Quotable:

Westridge coach Otto Lacayo: “I’m very proud of how the team fought today. Laguna was a very tough opponent and each game was a grind. There were many great things that wont show up in the stats. Eva Lekovic played a great match and Emmie Barnard went on a serving run to take the lead in game 4 at 21-20.”
