Positon(s): Running back-defensive back

Accomplishment(s): Armstead has been solid all year as Elijah’s Washington’s backup at running back, and also doing his part in the Golden Knights’ defensive backfield. On Friday night, though, Armstead was the ‘leading man’ in St. Francis’ ability to move forward in the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs. Eight weeks or so after defeating the same La Serna team by 29 points, the Golden Knights hosted a Lancers team looking for revenge in the first round of the playoffs. Armstead had 53 rushing yards on 12 carries, including touchdown runs of 18 and 1 yards. But Armstead’s biggest contribution was his game-and-season-saving pick of La Serna quarterback Andrew Henriquez at the 7-yard line with just 44 seconds to play and the Lancers within striking distance of ending the Golden Knights’ season. His diving snag made it possible for St. Francis to hold on to their 31-27 lead, and they now travel to Perris to take on Citrus Hill Friday in the quarterfinals.
