On Wednesday, November 8, four outstanding Maranatha Minutemen solidified their athletic achievements when they each signed a National Letter of Intent. These student athletes are:

Chris Austin (Senior – Basketball): Signed to Fordham University. Chris is an Olympic League MVP, averaging 19 points and 7 rebounds per game. He was also the 2016-2017 team MVP and that same year he led the Maranatha Minutemen to the Division 1AA CIF Championship game.

Marco Martinez (Senior – Baseball): Signed to the University of Southern California (USC). Marco is a 3x All-Olympic League 1st Team, 2017 Olympic League MVP, 2x 1st Team All-CIF, 2017 Pasadena Now “Player of the Year,” 2017 Pasadena Star News “Player of the Year,” 2017 Team Co-MVP, and 2016 Offensive “Player of the Year.” Marco also holds a batting average of .379 at Maranatha so far with 27 extra base hits, 58 RBIs, and 26 stolen bases.

Ben Guess (Senior – Baseball): Signed to the University of Utah. Ben is a 1st Team All-Olympic League and All-Area baseball player, with a batting average of .323 so far at Maranatha, 17 extra base hits, 28 RBIs, and 28 stolen bases.

Jacob Fielding (Senior – Diving): Signed to Ohio State University. Jacob is the 2017 CIF State Diving Champion, finishing with a state record of 604.35 and also broke all Maranatha High School records including the record in 2015 CIF Southern Section Swimming and Diving Championships in Boys 1-Meter Diving. Jacob also placed 3rd in Men’s Synchronized 3-Meter at the USA Diving Synchro Championships in 2017.

The Maranatha High School community is proud of all that these young athletes have accomplished.
