An ESPN Top 100 recruit for the 2016 class, the 6-foot-8 Hampton originally commited to Penn State but did not play there, and eventually ended up at PCC.

From Maryland, Hampton played two years at DeMatha Catholic High before transferring to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia for his junior campaign. During that season, the team went 37-1, but he then missed his senior year due to injury.
