Often times, even the best of teams don’t play up to their high billing in season openers.

That wasn’t the case for the area’s premiere program.

Pasadena led 40-8 at the half and 65-20 after three.

The Bulldogs stars took the fourth quarter off.

PHS blew by Eagle Rock, 73-31, in the 16th Annual Rose City Roundball Classic.

Bryce Hamilton finished with 21 points and 7 rebounds.

Tavian Percy had 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Darius Mason added 13 points and 5 rebounds.

Last but certainly not least, DBII, also known as Darius Brown II, had an incredible 10 steals in just the first half.

DBII also added 9 points and 7 assists in limited minutes.

The Bulldogs will face Cantwell Sacred Heart Thursday at 6:30 in the second round at Maranatha, and against former Blair coach Alon Margalit.

Laz Morris and Jesse Watkins contributed 4 points apiece, and Brandon Lopez and Kalonji West added 3 points each.

Denis Makhlin had one hoop for the defending Pacific League champs.

Cantwell-Sacred Heart defeated Renaissance Academy, 57-44, behind 24 points from Ian Martinez, Teddy Ochieng added 13 and Avery Martinez scored 12 points.
