It’s often said that it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.

Well, for one night, it was both how San Marino began and finished that cost the Titans the Poly Tournament to the host Panthers.

Poly’s defense held San Marino to just four points in each the first and fourth periods and the Panthers held off the Titans, 42-36, to win their own tournament.

Kylie Kishi led Poly on Saturday with 14 points.

Sarah Johnson and Alexis Pappachan had 8 points each.

Johnson earned tournament MVP honors by leading the Panthers in scoring in three of their four victories this week.

Shannon Dilbeck added 7 points and Keara Caragher scored 4 points for the Panthers.

Poly will host Mayfield on Tuesday at 3:30 to open Prep League play with the Cubs.
