Position: Goalie

Accomplishment(s): Rettig, a multi-sport athlete took up soccer for the first time in his life, because his classmates told him they needed a goalie after the graduation of Michael Gibbs. Rettig is a standout player on the boys volleyball program, and has also played football, baseball and basketball over his athletic career. Never shying away from a new challenge, the Lancers’ junior took up the challenge, and the La Salle soccer program is better off for it. La Salle lost two of its first three games, while Rettig was getting used to a sport and a primary position that he had never played at a competitive level. On Thursday, the Lancers tied a quality San Marino program, 1-1, and Rettig had a game-high 8 saves. Less than 48 hours, La Salle earned a 2-0 road victory at Pasadena on Saturday morning. Daniel Piesik and Eric Rivero had second-half goals, and Rettig blocked a career-best (and game-high) 15 shots over the Bulldogs.
