From STAFF REPORTS

Perhaps no player outside of the Las Vegas area and certainly the state of Nevada has felt more at home this week at the Tarkanian Classic than Pasadena star Bryce Hamilton.

Hamilton is signed, sealed and delivered to play for the Runnin’ Rebels and the UNLV fans have shown their excitement all over social media after he committed.

Hamilton has led PHS in scoring all three games in Las Vegas this week, including his tournament-high 30 on Friday.

The Bulldogs defeated George Washington, 67-55, and improved to 2-1 in Vegas with their second consecutive win after a first-round loss on Wednesday.

“It feels great to be out here (Las Vegas) because I know it will be likely that I’ll spend the next four years here,” Hamilton said. “We’re improving as a team and hope to leave here 3-1. Darius Mason has gotten more aggressive and is scoring again. We have an early morning game, but we’ll be ready.”

Darius Brown II rolled his ankle early in the game and did not return.

DBII, for precautionary reasons will not play in Saturday’s finale, and the Bulldogs hope their star point guard is back in time for Tuesday’s opener of the Damien Tournament against Corona Centennial.

But he’s taking it in stride, saying “it’s just a minor sprain. I should be fine.”

PHS has gotten some good news over the last two games.

Their junior Darius Mason seems to have regained his footing and scoring touch.

Mason scored just four total points in losses to Oak Park and Clark High Schools.

But Mason had 11 points in Thursday’s victory and 12 more on Friday, so it looks like he’s back to being Darius Mason.

Tavian Percy has been a huge addition to the 2017-18 Bulldogs.

The Florida transfer had led PHS in almost every game with rebounds and he scored 8 points in Friday’s win.

Omari Moore added 5 for the Bulldogs.

PHS will finish the tournament on Saturday morning at 8 when they take on Rancho Christian (8-1).

The Eagles are from Temecula, and are ranked No. 8 in the state by MaxPreps.
