From Staff Reports:

Mariah Cathcart had her best game of the Glendora Tournament on Thursday morning.

The Bulldogs senior pumped in 24 points and it led PHS by Yucaipa, 57-51, in the third round of the tournament.

The win sets up the biggest test of the season so far, as PHS will take on undefeated and host Glendora on Friday night at 6.

GHS (13-0), ranked No. 2 in the CIF-SS Division 2A poll, has outscored their opponents by a combined margin of 1,011-353.

The Tartans closest game thus far is the 39-point (68-29) victory over South Torrance and most lopsided was the 91-11 beatdown of Los Amigos.

Glendora’s Alexis Lowden reached the prestigious 1,000-point club with 15 in the Tartans’ 92-30 victory over Elsinore on Thursday evening.

But Pasadena, the top-ranked team in CIF-SS Division 3AA, could also be the toughest opponent GHS has seen as well.

Back to Thursday morning.

Taurie Magee had 12 points, 17 rebounds and 5 steals.

Kameria Piggee added 8 points and 14 rebounds.

Tatiana Ayala chipped in with 7 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks.

PHS is 2-1 so far in the Glendora Tournament, with wins over La Salle and Yucaipa, and a second-round, three-point setback to Covina.

Jett del Mundo has his program playing in tough tournaments to get his Bulldogs ready for Pacific League and CIF-SS playoff preparation.

After a CIF-SS semifinal run in 2016-17, and with the return of its core players, PHS has very high expectations.

Box Score:
Pasadena: 18-8-12-19-(57)
Yucaipa: 9-11-20-11-(51)

Records:
Pasadena (10-3); Yucaipa (6-3)
