The Minutemen traveled to the San Fernando Valley on Tuesday to play the Warriors of Heritage Christian. The first thirty minutes of the match saw opportunities for both sides, but it was Maranatha that broke through the Heritage defense, as John Hutto found Michael Antonovich on a through ball. Antonovich’s shot was on target and just out of reach of the goalkeeper.

Shortly before the break, Aiden Arcos connected with a perfect cross from Antonovich. His header found the net, scoring his first goal of the season. Two minutes after the restart, Antonovich scored his second goal of the game, off a through ball from Matt Malhotra. The fourth goal for the Minutemen came from Ezekial Funches, assisted by Matthew Morales with twenty minutes left in the game.

Goalkeeper Daylen Mcwhorter recorded his first clean sheet of the season, benefiting from a tough Maranatha defense that allowed only two shots on goal during the game. Maranatha plays next at home against Valley Christian on Friday; kickoff is at 5:30pm.
