From STAFF REPORTS

Dez Washington hadn’t been feeling well at the beginning of the week, but you wouldn’t have known that Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-7 Vikings star had 19 points and 7 boards.

Blair held off a furious South Pasadena charge, barely.

The Vikings defeated the Tigers, 65-61, which sets up an all-or-nothing battle this Friday.

Coach Jelani Gardner’s boys will travel to take on a La Canada team that hasn’t dropped a game to Blair since 2001.

If Blair is able to pick up the win, they pull even with the Spartans atop the Rio Hondo League standings with just two weeks to play.

Back to Wednesday, though.

South Pasadena doubled up the Vikings, 16-8, in the final period to make it interesting.

But the bottom line for Blair is ‘scoreboard.’

Favour Ihiaso had 14 points and 5 rebounds.

Zavior Smith added 12 points and 6 rebounds for the Vikings.

As mentioned, Blair will travel to La Canada on Friday at 7 to take on a Spartans (15-8, 5-0) team that just handed their coach, Tom Hofman, his 700th win last Friday.

Box Score:
Blair: 15-22-20-8-(65)
SP: 10-14-21-16-(61)

Records:
Blair (16-5, 4-1); South Pasadena (10-12, 2-3)
