From STAFF REPORTS

They might not tell you this, but there is only a couple things on the mind of these proud and talented basketball players and coaches at Muir High School.

The first is to win the next five games, including Friday night at Burroughs.

And the second is to prepare for the 13-time Pacific League champions when they come to your gym on Feb 8.

If Muir is able to do the first, they will set up a winner-take-all scenario in the season-ending showdown with Pasadena.

Step one was accomplished with Friday’s 97-70 blowout at Burroughs in a game that was even more lopsided than the score might indicate.

Three days after scoring just 9 points (but having double digits in assists and rebounds), Hunter Woods was back to being Hunter Woods in the scoring department.

The 6-foot-6 stud had a game-high 33 points, and added 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocked shots and 2 steals.

Haleem Jenkins finished with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

Tiyon Martin added 12 points, 9 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds.

Simaine Stewart Junior contributed 13 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.

Burroughs outscored Muir by 11 in the fourth period to make the game look much closer than it really was.

Jalen Harris finished with 7 points and 2 rebounds, Tasson Aubry added 8 points and 4 boards and Ethan Fleming had 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist.

Neal Carter, and Life Cienfuegos had 2 points each for Muir.

Carter also had 5 rebounds, 2 rebounds and 2 assists.

Joseph Dollaway added 2 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

Muir has three games next week with Arcadia, Crescenta Valley and Burbank in that order.

If they win all three, and after they blow out Hoover on Feb 6, the Mustangs will host Pasadena with a winner-take-all scenario for the Pacific League championship.28-
