From STAFF REPORTS

Blair was just three wins against teams with lesser records than them from winning the Rio Hondo League championship.

It certainly wasn’t a ‘given’ but of all teams to knock the Vikings off their perch, no one saw this coming.

Temple City, which entered the game 7-17 overall, and 0-7 in league, all but dethroned the Vikings, 74-67, on Friday night at Blair.

Dez Washington led Blair with 23 points and Don Guyton added 17 for the Vikings.

Blair played without starting guard Dallas Murray after Murray was elbowed in the face Tuesday night in a win against Monrovia.

Murray left in the first quarter and received stitches on Wednesday night.

First-year coach Jelani Gardner has done an amazing job, especially considering the players he lost to grades and another that moved back to Australia.

Gardner was clearly disappointed late Friday night, but vowed to get his boys to bounce back next week.

Blair faces San Marino on Tuesday at 7 in the next to last Rio Hondo League game of the regular season.
