It was a special senior night for all involved, but especially Xavier Ford and Chris Austin.

The Maranatha seniors had 24 points each in a blowout over visiting Valley Christian in an Olympic League game Friday night.

After the first few minutes, the Minutemen took a big lead and the Crusaders were never able to get closer than 19 points in the second half.

Ford hit a game-high six 3-point baskets on the way to his 24.

Austin was flashy with his 24, including buckets from all over the court.

The win gives the Minutemen a one-game lead over Heritage Christian with two games to play.

Maranatha will travel to Northridge to take on Heritage Christian on Tuesday at 7.

The Warriors defeated the Minutemen, 66-63, back on January 16.

Wes Clarkson added 12 points for Maranatha and was very active on the boards and on the defensive end.

Brad Lee had 8 points for MHS.

Maranatha will finish out the regular season on Thursday when they take on last-place Village Christian at 7:30.

Heritage Christian (12-14, 4-2)
Whittier Christian (11-14, 4-3)
