Flintridge Prep fell for the first time in 2018.

The Rebels started their season 10-0.

And while Wednesday’s four-set loss at La Salle wasn’t the outcome they had hoped for, coach Sean Beattie and his program will only get better for playing this level of competition outside of their league schedule.

The Lancers earned a 25-18, 25-20, 22-25 and 25-20 nonleague victory over the Rebels.

Will Dalgarn led La Salle with 20 kills, 11 digs and a pair of aces.

AJ Nicassio had a big night for Prep, including a team-high 19 kills and 2 aces, and Majeed Ismail added 10 kills and a pair of blocks.

CJ Rettig played well and added 11 kills and 12 digs and Brandon King had 25 digs for the Lancers.

Kristofer Chang had a team-best 18 digs for Prep.

La Salle’s Matt Futternick had 21 assists and 12 digs and George Rounds finished with 21 assists of his own.

The Rebels look to bounce back immediately as they’ll host winless Poly (0-7) Thursday at 4:30 in their Prep League opener.

La Salle will open Camino Real League play next Wednesday at Bosco Tech at 5.
