It’s certainly going to be a rebuilding year for the Poly boys volleyball program.

The Panthers graduated several seniors last year and have yet to win a match in 2018 in nine tries thus far.

And they certainly weren’t going to get any sympathy from their rival.

Flintridge Prep swept their visitors from Poly by scores of 25-18, 25-14 and 25-19 on Thursday behind 9 kills and 2 aces from junior AJ Nicassio.

Majeed Ismail and Garrett Gaines had 7 kills each for the Rebels and Tim Treinen led Prep with 29 assists.

Sophomore Jeffrey Shepherd led Poly with a match-high 13 kills.

Junior Dexter Renick added 12 digs for the Panthers.

Poly hopes to get its first victory of the season on Tuesday when they travel to Chadwick at 4:45.

Prep isn’t scheduled to play again until March 27.

The Rebels will travel to Rio Hondo Prep.
