From STAFF REPORTS

The Muir baseball program is without question on the upswing.

They’ve made so many improvements under first-year coach Adonis Harrison and have some key victories this year.

On Friday, though, they were three outs away and with a four-run lead from handing Crescenta Valley its first Pacific League loss of the season in eight games.

That dream, however, turned into a nightmare when CV scored five seventh inning runs to momentarily break the Mustangs’ hearts.

But it was yet another sign of just how serious opponents must take this program.

Brian Love went the first 6 1/3 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits.

Love walked two and struck out one batter.

Emiliano Martinez got the loss after giving up that sixth run, he walked one and surrendered one hit.

Amaris Harrison had two of Muir’s six hits and he scored one run.

His brother, Aryonis, was 1 for 2, walked and scored once.

David Solis singled, scored and had an RBI.

KeyShawn Spicer singled an scored and Valente Vera drove home a run on a sac fly.

Martinez had one hit and an RBI for the Mustangs.

Muir could get healthy next week when they face off with last-place Glendale for a pair of Pacific League games.
