From STAFF REPORTS

Chris Stamos continues to prove game after game and week by week why he’s called the St. Francis ace.

The senior left hander won his fifth game of the season for a program that has eight wins in 2018.

Stamos allowed just one hit in Friday’s 1-0 shutout at Chaminade.

Stamos walked four and struck out six on 94 pitches.

Sean Sullivan got the loss on the hill for Chaminade after allowing just a first-inning run and he struck out eight over four innings.

The Golden Knights pieced together a first inning run that turned out to be enough for Stamos.

With one out, Mikey Kane singled and he went to third on a base hit by Aaron Treloar.

Doyle Kane’s ground out plated his younger brother and the 1-0 lead.

Mikey Kane and Aaron Treloar had two hits apiece and accounted for four of St. Francis’ five hits on Friday.

Roc Riggio had the Eagles’ lone base hit of the day in the sixth inning.

St. Francis has waited all season for their field at the Glendale Sports Complex to be completed and they’ll get two of the three this week against Harvard-Westlake at home, including Tuesday and Friday’s Mission League games.

Quotable:

St. Francis senior Aaron Treloar: ” I’m extremely proud of the team for bouncing back after a sloppy game on Tuesday, and a heartbreaker on Wednesday. This win will give us confidence heading into the second half of Mission League play. If we play like we are capable, we can really make a name for ourselves in the D3 playoffs.”
