From STAFF REPORTS

Jacob Green continues to deliver big games for the Pasadena baseball program on the hill.

Green allowed just a sixth-inning double in PHS’s 1-0 victory at Glendale.

Green went all seven innings, walked one and struck out 10 in a masterful effort Friday.

He finished off Glendale on 95 pitches.

The Bulldogs started Pacific League play with three consecutive losses, but since then, PHS has won five consecutive games and have gone from last to third place in the standings.

Trent Lousararian was impressive for Glendale, allowing just a seventh-inning run to pick up the loss.

Aaron Corder tripled in the top of the seventh inning and came home one batter later when Christian Zambrano had an opposite-field single.

Green also collected two of Pasadena’s six hits at the plate.

David Banuelos and Robert Olivades had one hit apiece for PHS.

Daven Eidem picked up Glendale’s sole hit of the game.

PHS will face off with Burbank twice next week.

The Bulldogs host Burbank on Tuesday at 3:30 and then travel to their place on Saturday night at 7 in two Pacific League contests.

Quotable:

PHS senior Jacob Green: “I only use two pitches, my fastball and curve/slider. I need both to be working for me to have a good game, and today, both were. I was able to change speeds well an keep the hitters off-balance. I realized when I was in the bullpen that my fastball has some zip to it and my curve ball was dropping really well.”

PHS senior Adrian DePasquale: “He (Green) was dealing. He threw a perfect game until the sixth (inning). He has great control of his fastball and can put his off-speed pitches where he wants to. In short, he was unstoppable.”

PHS senior Alvie Castro: “He (Green) had a great outing. He was carving all seven (innings). He lost a no-hitter in the sixth with two outs on a double down the line by their leadoff hitter, but other than that, he was on point.”
