At first glance, Cole Doyle looks like someone you’d more likely see surfing in Newport Beach than running an offense on a football field.

But make no mistake about it, at 5-foot-10 or so, and 160-whatever pounds, the Falcons captain is a man.

Doyle took over Friday night’s Pacific League opener at Muir early and the Falcons were never challenged.

The CV quarterback scored on runs of 21 and 17 yards, and it led to a 31-7 victory over previously unbeaten Muir.

In all, Doyle rushed for nearly 150 yards and completed 11 of 17 for 205 yards, which included a 29-yard scoring strike to Angel Ochoa.

CV’s other captain, Daniel Cho, made a sizeable impact on both sides of the ball, and the senior scored on a 2-yard run for the Falcons.

Muir didn’t score until late in the game when third-string quarterback Tyquise Soloman hit Caleb Snowden from 18 yards out.

Brian Love started the game at quarterback, but Amaris Harrison and Soloman saw time as well.

In all, the Muir air attack netted less than 100 yards passing and each turned the ball over once.

Harrison used his quick feet for a couple of 30-yard runs.

There weren’t a lot of bright spots Friday for the Mustangs, but Caleb Snowden did pick off Doyle and Diego Resendiz recovered a fumble.

Kevin McCollum capped the Falcons scoring with his 30-yard field goal.

Muir will get back at it next Friday when they host last-place Hoover at 7.

Crescenta Valley will host Pasadena on Friday at 7.

The Bulldogs crushed Glendale, 48-7, and did so on the road.
