Allison Martinez Player of the Year 2017

From STAFF REPORTS

The reigning two-time Pasadena Sports Now Girls Volleyball Player of the Year, Allison Martinez, has continued to excel even after leaving the friendly confines of the Westridge School in Pasadena.

Martinez and her fellow Tigers won back-to-back Prep League championships and made consecutive trips to the CIF-SS semifinals, and did so in two different divisions.

Martinez has set records at the school that will never come close to being broken, including over 2,000 career kills.

Thanks to a pair of wins in the LBSU-Mizuno Invitational, and her stellar play on the court, Martinez was named the Big West Conference Freshman Player of the Week.

The 6-foot outside hitter finished the week with 18 kills, 5 blocks and 3 digs.

Martinez was at her best in the victory over Fresno State, when she had 12 kills in just 15 attempts and just one attack error.

She is second in the conference with a .370 hitting percentage.

Long Beach State opens conference play today (Tuesday) when they host UC Riverside at 7.
