Accomplishment: Poly earned the three-game sweep of South Pasadena on Monday evening in a nonleague road match, and they got a balanced effort from its entire roster. But in their biggest match of the year in 2018 thus far, Kate Salembier led the Panthers to a four-set victory over previously undefeated Mayfield on Thursday. Mayfield had already swept Poly back on August 28, held a one-game lead in the loss column for the Prep League championship and the Cubs won the first game and led 20-10 in the second set at Poly. Along with her teammates, Salembier led the Poly offense with 15 kills and 3 blocks to turn the tide late in the second game, and the Panthers won in four to join Mayfield atop the Prep League standings with just weeks to play.
