From Staff Reports:

Chadwick was able to hand Mayfield its first Prep League loss Friday afternoon.

And while the fact is the Cubs won just as many matches as the Dolphins (nine each), Chadwick came away with the victory thanks to a 67-65 lead in individual games.

Chadwick can very much thank its No. 1 singles player Casie Wooten for the win.

Wooten won all three of her matches by a 6-0 score, including her showdown with Mayfield’s and arguably the area’s best singles player in Lauren Panajotovic.

Panajotovic went on to defeat the Dolphins’ No. 2 and No. 3 players by scores of 6-0 and 6-0, but Wooten’s 18 games to none played a huge role in the eventual decision.

Mayfield singles players went a combined 4-5.

The Cubs doubles teams of Elise and Ashlinn Kingston and Alexia Saigh and Rebecca Leiva each won two of their three matches Friday.

Chadwick’s No. 1 doubles team won each of their three matches and did so by scores of 6-2, 6-2 and 6-1.

The Cubs will travel to Flintridge Prep on Tuesday at 3:30 for another Prep League match.

Records: Mayfield (4-2 overall, 1-1 in league); Chadwick (2-2, 1-1)
