Accomplishments: The Maranatha trio each had a huge role in Friday’s 36-0 victory over visiting Cerritos Valley Christian in the Olympic League opener. McClendon took Maranatha’s first offensive play from scrimmage 35 yards for a touchdown and then picked off the CVC quarterback and brought it back 25 yards for another TD just a few minutes into the game. Rivera scored a pair of rushing touchdowns (11 & 1 yards) and sacked the Defenders’ quarterback in the end zone for a safety. And last but not least, Moreno had an 11-yard rushing touchdown, he recovered a fumble and had a sack.
