The CIF-SS D-4 #1 ranked Minutemen played a tough Rowland squad, whose doubles teams gave them all they could handle. Like the last time they played in March, MHS’s doubles squeaked by, 5-4, behind Billy Tan’s and Jake Scott’s sweep. The last time they met the Raiders, they went 1-2, so they had something to prove.

On the singles side, Nico Engling, also 1-2 the last time he faced Rowland, played inspired tennis, sweeping the Raiders’ singles lineup. Along with Daniel Guan and JP Collins, Engling helped give the Minutemen a 9-0 singles sweep.

Now 12-1 on the season, Maranatha’s next match will be at Montebello HS on Thursday, 4/18/19 at 3:15 p.m.

Maranatha High School, 169 S. St. John Avenue, Pasadena, (626) 817-4000 or visit www.maranatha-hs.org.
