Mike Lansford was placekicker for the Rams from 1982-1990. He was known more for accuracy and being a clutch kicker. He never missed a last minute game tying or winning field goal and is credited with 15 game-winning kicks!

In 1989 he led the NFL with 51 extra points. He was drafted by the New York Giants, and played also for the 49ers and Raiders. When signed by the Rams in 1982, he took off his shoe for the first time and began kicking barefoot. Lansford is one of seven barefooted kickers in National Football League history.

Lansford was born in Monterey Park, was a Junior College All American at PCC, and stared at the University of Washington. For the Huskies he set a then Pac 10 record kicking 71 for 71 PAT’s.

He retired in 1991 as the Ram’s all-time scoring leader with 789 total career points. Mike was inducted into the Halls of Fame in Orange County in 1996, Arcadia High School in 2000, and Pasadena city College in 2005.

Mike is now affiliated with Ferragamo/Lansford, running football camps for youth. During his time as a youth, Lansford attend camps that were strictly for competition rather than for instruction. He says “I want everyone that works out with me to improve their fundamentals as a specialist. Fundamentals are extremely important and the foundation to my lessons. A specialist will leave the lessons knowing what to work on and how to improve their kicking game”. His wife Jill is a member of Vince Ferragamo’s luxury real estate firm Touchdown Real Estate. Mike and Jill have three children.

Joining Lansford on the podium, preceding his talk, is Jerry Chou, Monrovia High head football coach. Chou is expected to bring a co-captain or two. Quarterbacks donate to the high school football program whose head coach speaks, and to the National Football Foundation.
