La Salle just got three transfer players eligible on Monday that are considered ‘game changers.’

Fast forward 72 hours, and the Lancers completed a remarkable week by winning a 5-set thriller at top-ranked Bishop Montgomery.

The Knights were the top dog as per the CIF-SS Division 3 polls, but La Salle came in and earned a 21-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22 and 15-11 thrilling comeback from two games down.

Additionally, the victory secures a perfect run through Del Rey League play, including two wins on the road.

La Salle (15-7 overall, 4-0 in league) was led by Tori Ashkinos, who had 19 kills and 16 assists.

Sophia Sanchez had 12 kills, Claire Forest added 13 kills, Tamia Cesphus had 24 assists and Sophia Anderson chipped in with 7 kills and 12 digs.

“In the first game, we started with the lead, but had a hard time finishing,” Tuitama said. “In the second game, we never had any momentum and switched up rotations, which gave us a new look in the third game. Montgomery had a hard time stopping us and we carried the momentum into the fourth and fifth games.”

The 7th-ranked Lancers will host Serra on Tuesday at 6, as the second half of League play begins.
