Two days ago, the new CIF-Southern Section Division 3 girls volleyball polls came out.

La Salle sits atop that poll.

The Lancers backed up the No. 1 ranking by defeating St. Joseph in four games in Lakewood and earned the season sweep over the Jesters.

La Salle took a 25-16, 14-25, 28-18 and 25-21 victory, and improved to 16-7 overall ,and 5-0 in Del Rey League play.

Claire Forrest had 10 kills, 3 blocks and an ace.

Emily Wasson added 9 kills and 2 blocks, while Sofia Sanchez and Sophia Anderson combined for 13 kills.

This week’s Pasadena Now Girls Athlete of the Week, Tori Ashkinos, provided 4 aces for the Lancers.

“The girls are starting to get more comfortable in their spots as a whole,” La Salle coach Tiare Tuitama said. “It was a hard-fought four games, but after our first meeting with St. Joe’s, we looked to play against their strengths.”
