The Pasadena City College men’s cross country team continues to fly under the radar, but its fourth place (out of 17 teams) finish at the Mt. San Antonio Invitational served notice that the Lancers can compete with the state’s best. The meet was raced on October 14 over the Mounties’ 4-mile course.
Nathan-Michael Guzman scored the best time of all Lancers with a 21 minutes, 53.9 seconds run, good enough for 19th place overall out of 154 runners. Eduardo Urbina took 21st at 21:59.6. Marcelo Ramirez picked up the PCC pace to take 33rd in 22:23.3.
Following those strong performances, Christian Alcala grabbed 66th (23:08.3), Eric Bravo 67th (23:0.8), then Armando Solis in 104th (24:18.1), Kalen Marshall 110th (24:38.4), Jacob Reyes 121st (25:32.7), Tymel Minter 127th (25:47.2), Jeremy Alvarenga 136th (27:00.5), and Milton Lamar 137th (27:15.8).
PCC scored 163 points to finish behind meet champion and host Mt. San Antonio (27), Hartnell (48), and College of the Sequoias (136). Hartnell’s Edgar Bonilla won the individual race in 20:49.2.
The Lancers just moved from No. 14 to No. 11 in this week’s state SoCal Rankings. PCC is directed by first-year head coach Innocent Egbunike and assistant Tyrus DeMinter.
