Trinity Classical Academy was no match for Poly on Friday afternoon.

The Panthers saw most of their starters take the second half off.

But what might have gone overlooked in Friday’s 41-6 blowout was that Poly not only clinched the Prep League outright, they also finished the regular season 10-0 and head into the playoffs pretty healthy.

Cameron McFarlane had TD runs of 50 and 5 yards in just two quarters of action.

“It’s great to play with the guys and it’s fun to win,” McFarlane said. “We need to lock it down on defense (for the playoffs.) “We’re very balanced offensively, and there is not one guy a defense can key on.”

Brady Carter didn’t have to play much either, but he was able to work in a 60-yard TD run before taking the second half off, and helped hold the Knights offense in check.

“It was awesome (to finish 10-0) like we did two years ago when I got to play with my brother,” Brady Carter said. “It’s really hard to adjust to us, because we’ve got so many threats. It’s hard to play us.”

Poly’s John Genske hit Jackson Hayes on a 47-yard touchdown pass.

“We didn’t get very far last season, so this is pretty awesome,” quarterback John Genske said. “We installed some new stuff on offense to get out of the pocket and put pressure on one side of the field.”

Matt Queen caught a 29-yard score from Matt Loomis and Jackson Treister rumbled in from 2 yards out for the Panthers (10-0, 3-0)

Trinity Classical (4-6, 1-2) got a 1-yard TD run by Caden Kulp well after the Panthers first-string defense had left the game.

Most of the second half was played with a running clock, after Poly had a 41-0 lead.

“When you go out, you hope to win, and being 10-0 is a great place to be,” Poly coach Chris Schmoke said. “Offensively, we tried to tighten some stuff up. It can be challenging in games like this, but the guys got done what they needed to get done. We need to execute every play.”

Final Prep League Standings:
Poly (10-0 overall, 3-0 in league)
Rio Hondo Prep (6-3, 2-1)
Trinity Classical (4-6, 1-2)
Firebaugh (0-10, 0-3)
