Pasadena’s John Muir High School four-star cornerback Elijah Blades cleared the air Monday for fans wondering whether he’d be solid in his commitment to play with the University of Florida when he sets out to college.

Just like he did in November after Fred Hansard spurned UF and went for Penn State, Blades tweeted an assurance he remains committed to the Florida Gators, and included a photo where he sports a Gators shirt and shorts with the team’s logo.

“For the fans that’s wondering about my commitment,” Blades wrote on Twitter Monday, January 2.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers and hometown USC Trojans have been in hot pursuit of the Pasadena High School talent, but the tweet reaffirms Blades is headed east to suit up for the Orange and Blue.

Campus Insiders says Blades has been committed to Florida since June. The 6-foot-3, 170-pound speedster has tentative plans to visit Florida on January 13, with the Trojans and Huskers jockeying for the weekend of January 20.

Blades is scheduled to travel to Orlando on January 23 to start practice for the U.S. National team with the game against Canada set to take place January 28.

247Sports says the nation’s No. 95 overall prospect has a good shot to earn a starting corner spot at Florida with the Gators openings at the position and his extremely high ceiling.
