From Staff Reports

St. Francis used one of its most balanced efforts of the season Friday to hold off a feisty Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks team.

The Golden Knights had four players in double figures and three of the four had 4 assists in their 73-70 victory over the visiting Knights.

Joey Walsh bounced back from a subpar game against Alemany and looked much more like Joey Walsh Friday night.

The senior had 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in a tight game throughout.

‘It was a great team win tonight,” Walsh said. “We came in with an extra chip on our shoulder, I feel. We needed to come in and be tough as a team and go back to playing St. Francis basketball, which is playing hard, good defense, moving the ball and playing together.”

Tomas Seager had four 3-point baskets and finished with 16 points.

Malakhi Jensen chipped in with 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, and
Andre Henry had 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists of his own.

Notre Dame was led offensively by Ziaire Williams’ 19 points on three 3-pointers, and Tyler Hawara, who also had 19 for the Knights on Friday.

Julian Rishwain had 12 for Notre Dame, which was looking for its first Mission League victory of the season.

St. Francis, though, clutched up at home, and got 7 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists from Omari Moore, and Matt Molina had 2 points and 3 rebounds.

St. Francis will play King-Drew today (Saturday, Jan. 21) in the MLK Extravaganza at 7:30 and then get back to Mission League play with games Wednesday when they host second place Harvard-Westlake at 7, and then the Golden Knights go to Crespi on Friday at 7.
