It’s been quite the final month of the season for the Mayfield girls soccer program.

They went from having not defeated Poly in 15 years to two wins over the Panthers in a span of 12 days.

Over the final 7 games, Mayfield went 5-1-1 and now heads into the playoffs as the Prep League’s No. 2 seed.

To get that spot, the Cubs had to defeat Firebaugh and defeat the Falcons they did.

Nadia O’Reilly picked up a hat trick on Thursday, and Amber Allen scored twice.

The victory evens the Cubs in the Prep League standings with Westridge, but in their two games against the Tigers, Mayfield won one and tied the other.

That moved Mayfield up to the No. 2 spot when the CIF-SS pairings come out this weekend.

Niamh Diver had 2 saves in goal for Mayfield.

Box Score:
Mayfield: 2-3-(5)
Firebaugh: 0-0-(0)

Prep League Standings:
Flintridge Prep (19-3-3 overall, 8-1-1 in league)
Mayfield (8-6-5, 5-3-2)

Poly (15-6-3, 5-4)
