Pasadena City College men’s track and field freshman Brennan Doyle won the 800 meters in a time of 2 minutes, 1.74 seconds at the Battle of the Regions Meet held Feb. 10 at Bakersfield College. The 800 could very well be the strength of the 2017 Lancers under first-year head coach Innocent Egbunike.

Kalen Marshall, who took third behind Doyle at 2:02.44, posted a 2:01.42 and won his heat at the SCC Opener Meet held Feb. 3 at El Camino College. That meet was the team’s season opener as well. Marshall ran on the PCC 2016 cross country team, a group that save for one runner all are participating on the ’17 track squad.

Doyle was a Pacific League champion in the 400 meters at Burbank High. Marshall is from Blair High. Marshall is ninth in the state 800 rankings and Doyle 11th with their respective top races.

Marcelo Ramirez (Eagle Rock High) just missed winning the 3,000 meters at the Bakersfield meet as his 9:28.24 was second place behind race champ Jake Eisler of Moorpark in 9:27.57. Also in that race, sophomore Nathan-Michael Guzman was fourth for the Lancers in 9:36.96.

Eduardo Urbina (Duarte) placed sixth overall and second in his heat in the 1,500 at 4:17.20. Ramirez was third in the race at 4:19.90.
