St. Francis traded blows with La Sierra of Riverside through the first two quarters.

The Eagles took a one-point lead into the halftime break.

But La Sierra outscored St. Francis 29-18 in the second half, and earned a 62-51 victory in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 3-AA playoffs Wednesday evening.

The loss saw the prep career of St. Francis’ Joey Walsh come to an end.

The senior guard finished his stellar final season with 16 points, including three 3-point baskets.

Sean Stephen’s 9 points came on three 3-pointers for the Golden Knights (14-13).

Jerod Elliot had a game-high 18 for La Sierra (21-6) and Anthony Teffeteller had 17 points.

Andre Henry had 7 points for St. Francis and Lucas Shin and Tomas Seager added 6 points each for the Golden Knights.
