Sophomore Gemma Takahashi (San Jose, Calif. / Leland), along with two other Beavers found the net in Caltech’s women’s water polo loss to Pomona-Pitzer College on Wednesday. The clash marked the Beavers’ first SCIAC game of 2017.

The Sagehens made sure to get up on the Beavers early. 15 of their 20 goals came in the first half, and 11 of them happened in the second quarter. All of Caltech’s goals conversely came in the second half. Takahashi scored last for the Beavers with 12 seconds remaining in the game’s final quarter. Senior Sash Zemsky (Mount Kisco, N.Y. / Horace Greeley) broke the Caltech scoring drought with 39 seconds to go in the third quarter and fellow senior Mary Boyajian (Sun Valley, Calif. / Village Christian) found the net in the fourth quarter. None of the goals were assisted. Sophomore Brittany Percin (Moraga, Calif. / Stanford Online), meanwhile led all Beavers with seven shot attempts and three steals.

Head Coach Jon Bonafede and the Beavers will return to their home pool next Tuesday when they host Utica College (N.Y.) for a 4 p.m. game.
