Pasadena City College Softball Stays Red Hot With 9th Win In Last 10

The Pasadena City College softball team continues to pile up the runs and in the process help the Lancers become an early leader in the South Coast Conference North Division race. The Lancers upped their overall record to 12-6 and stayed pefect at 3-0 in conference play with an 11-6 victory at Chaffey Tuesday.

PCC has won nine of its last 10 games, including five straight. In the win streak, the team has outscored opponents, 56-14.

Bree Howard is on a power surge that has seen the freshman first baseman slug home runs in three straight games, four of the last five and now a team-high six overall. Howard bombed a 2-run HR in the first inning to get things going against Chaffey. Second baseman Alex Howard (no relation to Bree) went 2-for-5 and drove in four RBI.

Shortstop Karina Moreno is en fuego at the plate of late, 9-for-14 in her last four games with 11 runs scored and 7 stolen bases. She was one of four Lancers to collect two hits against the Panthers. Centerfielder Angel Urbina and third basman Brittany Ching also had a pair of hits.

PCC now travels to face the state’s No. 2-ranked Mt. San Antonio Mounties, who are undefeated this year at 18-0 and 2-0 in conference. Game time at the Walnut campus diamond is 5 p.m.
