Senior Mary Boyajian (Sun Valley, Calif. / Village Christian) scored the lone goal for Caltech women’s water polo as the Beavers fell to Chapman University on Wednesday. The Beavers are now 1-9 overall and 0-2 in SCIAC play, while the Panthers are now 5-14 overall and 2-0 in the SCIAC.

The Panthers took control early as they led 5-0 halfway through the first period. Despite trailing 15-1 at the half, the Beavers’ defense tightened up as they held Chapman to only five goals in the second half. Caltech had more scoring opportunities in the second half even though they were unable to convert. Freshman Sarah Kreider (River Forest, Ill. / Oak Park and River Forest) led the Beavers defense in the second half as she came up with seven saves.
