From Staff Reports

It turns out St. Francis missed out on a three-game Mission League sweep by one run.

After knocking Crespi around in two games this week, the Celts finally got the best of the Golden Knights, 3-2, Friday at the Glendale Sports Complex.

Crespi got three runs in the top of the fifth inning off St. Francis starter Nolan Shwery.

St. Francis (2-8, 2-1) got two runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth.

Jacob Becthold and Brandon Lewis had one hit apiece and both drove in a run in the sixth inning.

It turned out to be a one run too little, but St. Francis made giant strides this week, and their pitching is really coming around.

Patrick Dionisio and Doyle Kane had a hit each, and both scored a run for the Golden Knights.

The St. Francis offense saw nine separate batters strike out, and the Golden Knights went down on strikes 13 times on Friday.

Four players struck out at least twice.

JP Caire and Tanner Tomko each threw a scoreless inning of relief for the Golden Knights.

St. Francis will host Chaminade on Tuesday at 3:30 at the Glendale Sports Complex.

Box Score:
Crespi: 0-0-0-0-3-0-0-(3)
St. Francs: 0-0-0-0-0-2-0-(2)
