Maranatha may still be looking for its first win of the season.

But the Minutemen put up a solid fight on Thursday night on the road.

Village Christian took out Maranatha, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22 and 25-19 in an Olympic League battle.

Jesse Elrod led the way with 21 kills, 12 digs, 3 blocks and an ace.

Swinnie Mason added 11 kills, 3 aces, 4 digs and a block.

Chris Fluxa led Village Christian with 8 kills, Andrew Van Beekom had 7 kills, and Preston Lacey had 6.

Maranatha will travel to Whittier Christian on Tuesday as league play continues.

Valley Christian (11-4 overall, 4-0 in league)
Whittier Christian (13-7, 2-1)
Heritage Christian (9-10, 2-2)
