From Staff Reports

What a crushing way to see their season end.

Poly, who entered the postseason and playing the most consistent volleyball, took a two set to none lead into the third game at home Tuesday night.

But Santa Ana Valley fought back and earned a five-set victory in the CIF-SS Division 4 playoffs.

The Falcons won by scores of 22-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-16 and 15-10.

Poly (11-10) was led by junior middle hitter Graham Olson, who had a team-best 13 kills and six blocks

Senior setter Will McConnell led the team with 36 assists.

Quotable:

Poly coach Jack Prater: “They had a great season. They played really well together. Santa Ana really pushed us in that third set and we ended up a little short. Both teams conducted themselves with poise throughout the match. I’m proud of our effort and the way we played. I couldn’t have asked for a more consistent effort from a better set of guys.”
