There is no pitcher in the Pasadena area that is on a better current streak than La Salle junior Zane Lindeman.

The 6-foot-4 right-hander threw his second complete game in five days, and has now gone 19 consecutive scoreless innings for the Lancers.

Lindeman shut out visiting Santa Monica, 3-0, on four hits and struck out six, in a CIF-SS Division 3 Wild Card contest at Arcadia County Park.

Lindeman didn’t walk a batter and ended the Vikings’ season on 81 pitches to improve to 8-4.

La Salle will now travel Thursday to top-seeded Quartz Hill (24-5) at 3:15.

Junior Ethan Patrick went 2 for 3, with a single, an RBI triple and a run scored, and he had one put out at shortstop, and six assists.

Patrick tripled in Henry Kavanaugh in the third inning to give La Salle a 1-0 lead.

Patrick’s two hits give him 42 on the season, which is tops in the area.

Kavanaugh then led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a single, and Patrick followed with another single to bring up freshman Luke Heiberg.

With two on and no out, Heiberg failed on two attempts to lay down a bunt on two balls out of the strike zone.

But that turned out to be a good thing, because he went on to drive a two-strike pitch down the left-field line and it scored Kavanaugh from second base and Patrick came all the way around from first to give the Lancers’ a 3-0 lead.

Desmond Bunting, Wilder Millett and Tristan Gallegos had hits for Santa Monica.

Dax Speakman got the loss after allowing three runs on five hits over his six innings on Tuesday.

One thing La Salle would like to forget about was their putrid base running, but a postseason victory will forgive a couple picked off runners.

Senior lefty Grant Fosselman will be on the mound Thursday with the Lancers’ season on the line.

Quotable:

La Salle coach Mike Parisi: “Any playoff win is a good win. Zane did a great job. He made some pitches when he had to. We feel confident we’ll go out there and make it a ball game. Zane is healthy and is a bulldog.”

La Salle pitcher Zane Lindeman: “I had my slider going well when it was down in the zone. I was pretty nervous before the game, but we’re a tough team and don’t let the nerves get to us. Staying healthy has been key for me.”

La Salle shortstop Ethan Patrick: “Zane’s our ace. We knew he was going to go out there and get the job done. You can always count on him to get you a lot of ground balls and easy pop outs. We saw the ball a little better (later in the game). We need to get better on our base running.”

La Salle freshman left fielder, Luke Heiberg: “It feels great (to get the big hit). Coach Parisi wanted me to get a bunt down and I didn’t get the job done, but I made up for it. Zane has been on fire lately.”
