Brianna Sanchez pitched well enough to win.

The sophomore allowed just one earned run over six innings.

She didn’t walk a batter and struck out four.

Sanchez also drove in a run from the leadoff spot.

But it still wasn’t enough to get past West Torrance on Tuesday.

The Warriors scratched out nine hits and held off Alverno, 3-1, in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 5 playoffs.

Isabella Fyson, Natalie Scigliano, Delaney Brancheau and Clarissa Gianoli had the Jaguars’ four hits on Tuesday.

Alverno saw 13 of their 21 outs (offensively) come via strikeout.

The Horizon League champs finished at 17-9.
