The 2017 postseason for the Pasadena City College baseball team ended from a playing standpoint, but the awards keep pouring in for Lancers sophomores Andres Kim and Jeremy Conant. Kim, a second baseman, was selected American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Pacific Association All-American Third Team, CCCBCA All-State First Team, and All-Region First Team. Conant, the Lancers’ record-setting first baseman, also was AA Third Team, All-State First Team and was All-Region Second Team.

Kim recently was a PCC Horrell Scholarship recipient after batting .335 with 11 doubles, two home runs, 26 RBI, a team-leading eight stolen bases and a new PCC school record for runs scored in a season with 43. He played in all 41 of the team’s games and reached base on 52 hits, 20 walks and 13 hit-by-pitches for a .440 on-base percentage. He also led the Lancers in both sacrifice bunts with seven and sacrifice flies with five. Kim was an All-South Coast Conference First Team infielder. A product of St. Francis High, he played one season at PCC after transferring from UC San Diego.

Conant, the PCC 2016-17 Men’s Athlete of the Year for all sports, broke PCC records for highest batting average in a season at .429 (seventh in the state this year), most hits at 67, most hits all-time at 128, and most RBI in a season with 44. He slugged three home runs, 10 doubles and his .495 on-base percentage led the team. A left-handed hitting, right-handed throwing first baseman from Alta Loma High, produced a team-best .997 fielding percentage. Conant was the first South Coast Conference Most Valuable Player selection in PCC’s history as a member of the conference (since 1987).

The two players are the first Lancers to receive All-American/All-Region accolades since the ABCA started the awards in 2009. The pair played under SCC North Division Coach of the Year Pat McGee and helped the Lancers win the SCC North conference title, the first by any PCC baseball team since 1972.
