The Caltech men’s and women’s swim & dive teams have been recognized as College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Teams. Freshman Tom Gallup also was named an individual Scholar All-American.

The CSCAA Scholar All-America program recognizes teams across all three NCAA division and the NAIA which have compiled a minimum 3.0 grade-point average over each semester of the academic calendar. The men’s team ranked third in all of Division III with an outstanding 3.67 GPA, trailing only Vassar College and first-year program the University of the Ozarks, which both listed at 3.71.

Gallup earned individual recognition by virtue of a minimum 3.50 GPA and participation in the NCAA National Championships, at which he placed 11th in the 100 Breast.

“Coach Paul Hughes led Caltech to one of the nation’s top GPAs once again,” CSCAA Executive Director Joel Shinofield said. “We are very fortunate to have schools like Caltech and institutional administrators like President Rosenbaum and Director of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation Betsy Mitchell who support these exceptional student-athletes.”
