The Caltech baseball team welcomes three newcomers ahead of the 2018 season as the program looks to build on its historic past spring.

“This class as it stands is small compared to last year, but with the growth of the program over the past few years we continue to move forward even with just a few impact additions,” Head Coach Matthew Mark said. “We have some pieces in this group that fit in nicely with what we have returning and with most of our team coming back the next two years, this group will have some strong leaders in from of them.”

A two-sport star at Horace Mann School, Holder was the starting quarterback on the football team in 2016 before leading his baseball club to a runner-up finish at the NYSAIS Championship.
“Dillon will add crucial depth to our squad, not only on the mound as a competitive right-handed pitcher, but eventually as a two-way player with his bat as well,” Mark said. “He has the ability to find himself in the lineup early in his career.”

Catcher
Also a two-sport athlete in wrestling and baseball, Rosner spent the majority of his time as a catcher at Georgetown Day School and had the honor of starting behind the plate as a junior in the team’s first playoff win.
“Ari comes to us after battling some injuries throughout his high school career, but his wrestling mentality is evident in his approach to the game,” Mark said. “I am excited to see what he can do for us.”

Watson arrives at Caltech with several accolades as yet another two-sport star in football and baseball, having earned All-USA Colorado Team Honorable Mention and Academic All-State First Team honors as well as being named All-Conference twice and a Colorado Player of the Year finalist. The younger brother of rising senior David Watson, he was also named All-Conference twice and was a finalist for the Colorado Player of the Year award.
“Mitchell has a chance to be a physical presence in our lineup very early in his career here,” Mark said. “He is a right-handed hitter that should bring some big power from the day he steps onto campus.”
