The Caltech women’s water polo team has announced its schedule for the 2018 season, which will include eight home matches.
Head Coach Jon Bonafede’s squad will open the season at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, against which Caltech played its closest SCIAC game last spring, on Feb. 28 before participating in the four-match Claremont Convergence the weekend of Mar. 2-3.
The Beavers’ home opener is set for Tuesday, Mar. 6 at 5 p.m. against Penn State University-Behrend, a matchup which returned a total of 35 goals last season, with another home game against Occidental College 24 hours later.
Caltech heads to the University of Redlands on Mar. 10 and has another road date at the University of La Verne on Mar. 15, with home games against defending SCIAC champion Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and Chapman University on Tuesday, Mar. 13 and Saturday, Mar. 17.
Bonafede will take the squad east for three non-conference games against PS-Behrend, Washington & Jefferson College and Grove City College in the Pittsburgh area during Spring Break from Mar. 18-19. A two-game home stand against Cal Lutheran University and CMS on Wednesday, Mar. 21 and Saturday, Mar. 31 awaits upon their return.
The Beavers begin the final month of the season at Oxy on Apr. 4 ahead of their final two home games of the year, against Redlands and La Verne on Saturday, Apr. 7 and Wednesday, Apr. 11. The regular season concludes with road dates at Chapman (Apr. 14) and Pomona-Pitzer (Apr. 21), with the new four-team SCIAC Tournament set for the following Friday and Sunday, Apr. 27 and 29.
